Due to the holders’ failure to return them as instructed, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revoked 701 diplomatic and service passports. This termination of the passports will take effect on May 6th 2025.

They consist of 360 service passports and 341 diplomatic passports.
A recall of all diplomatic and service passports issued by the previous government was ordered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in January 2025. The recall particularly named a wide range of former officials and other persons who were forced to surrender their travel papers.
- Former Ministers and their spouses
- Former Members of Parliament
- Former Council of State members and spouses
- Retired Justices of the Superior and Lower Courts
- Former Regional Ministers, MMDCEs, and board members
- Officials of the National Cathedral Project
- Former non-career ambassadors and their dependents
- Former Political Ambassadors and their dependents,
- Business people, religious leaders, traditional leaders, and other former government functionaries who were no longer in official positions were among the people named by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the bearers of such passports.

The ministry warned of strong enforcement at points of entrance and exit and emphasized that all affected passports will be confiscated if discovered in use.
Sections 6 and 7 of the Passports and Travel Certificates Act, 1967 (NLCD 155), which govern the issuing and usage of official passports, are specifically targeted for conformity with this legislation.
