Police Officer Interdicted For Possession Of “Red”-VIDEO

G/L/Cpl Shani Abdullai, a police officer stationed at Sakasaka Police Station in Tamale, was interdicted (suspended) after being caught with six boxes of tramadol (a highly addictive opioid referred to as “Red”) during an operation by the Anti-Tramadol Taskforce in Kpalsi, Tamale.

Intelligence suggested he possessed over 1,500 boxes, but only six boxes (125mg doses) were recovered. He admitted to selling the drugs due to financial difficulties.

The officer initially tried to intimidate the taskforce using his police status but was outsmarted and arrested.

The Ghana Police Service announced the interdiction in a statement issued on Sunday, May 4, 2025.

According to the statement, the interdiction is to “allow for a thorough investigation into his conduct in line with Police Service regulations.”
