It has been confirmed that IGP Akuffo Dampare has been relieved of his position as Head of The Ghana Police Service.
In a statement released by the Presidency on Thursday, March 13, 2025, the announcement stated that the decision was based on constitutional provisions.
The statement claims that President Mahama implemented the modification by consulting the Council of State and acting in conformity with Articles 91 and 202 of the 1992 Constitution.
At this moment, COP Yohunu, a seasoned officer with more than 40 years of experience in the Ghana Police Service, assumes leadership of the organization.
