Former Deputy Finance Minister under the NPP Government Dr. Stephen Amoah in an interview with Joy News was unable to give an affirmative answer on the introduction of betting Tax.

This comes after current Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson presented the first budget of 2025 to Parliament which abolished the betting Tax.
Asked whether his NPP government of which he served as a Deputy Finance Minister implemented and collected betting tax, the former minster said he was in charge of wealth creation and not revenue generation. Hence he was unable to tell whether his Government introduced that tax or not.
