Ghana And Nigeria Police Rescue Kidnaped Victims In Viral Videos

Two women abducted in Ghana (including Konadu, a 39-year-old hairdresser) were rescued in a joint operation by the Ghana Police ServiceNigeria Police Force, and Ghana’s National Signals Bureau (NSB)

The victims were shown in graphic viral videos, injured and pleading for help, with kidnappers demanding a GH₵500,000 ransom.

One of the victims, who has been identified as Ama Serwaa Konadu was said to have been kidnapped on Tuesday, Aril 22 from Asiakwa in the Eastern region on her way to work. In a disturbing viral video, it is alleged that she was the one seen gruesomely manhandled by her abductors with a machete.

After her abductors contacted her family and demanded a ransom, a report was made to the Ghana Police with evidence following subsequent rescue operations.

It has also been revealed that Kidnappings frequently target highways, suburbs, and vulnerable groups, with ransoms as a primary motive

Eight suspects were arrested across Ghana and Nigeria. The operation highlighted cross-border collaboration.
