Hon Afenyo Markin Narrates Encounter With Police During Demonstration-VIDEO

Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, the minority leader, has accused a uniformed police officer of physically attacking him at Parliament House’s entrance during Monday’s “Save the Judiciary” demonstration.

When he attempted to enter Parliament to deliver a petition, the officer, named as Constable Forson, purposefully struck him on the left side of his chest, close to his heart, according to Mr. Afenyo-Markin, who spearheaded the protest alongside other opposition leaders.

In other interviews, Hon Markin said “Without any provocation, a uniformed police officer stationed behind the barricade—Constable Forson, a tall, fair, heavily built officer—deliberately struck the left side of my chest with the full force of his right palm”…the honorable member continued “The impact of the hit dazed me. I was visibly shaken and short of breath.”

The minority leader in parliament said he was hit so hard by the officer that he thought the officer wanted to kill him. Speaking more of the “young” constable, the leader of the minority concluded “He is just a child, and i hope high powers would give him the light and he would realize what he has done and apologize”.
