Right after the famous lavish birthday party held by Richard Nii Armah Quaye, reports have suggested that the Ghana Revenue Authority has allegedly frozen his Bank Accounts.
Though there have been various conflicting reports as to whether the accounts have been frozen or not, reliable sources have affirmed seizure of the accounts. But the reason given by the Ghana Revenue Authority is said to be “procedural”..
Further reports suggest that the Founder of Bills Micro Credit is undergoing a Personal Income Tax Assessment under the Ghana Revenue Authority.
Additional reasons given for the procedure is that “the number of enterprises owned by the business mogul does not commensurate” the amount of Income Tax paid. Hence, this measure has been explained to be a component of regular regulatory monitoring to make sure the business owner fulfills his tax responsibilities.
The Ghana Revenue Authority has not yet released any official communication on the matter leaving many to speculate.
