The Attorney General Dr Dominic Ayine has revealed in the press conference that Mr Kwabena Adu Boahene, the former chief of the National Signals Bureau, stole state monies whiles in office.
A list of multiple homes that he reportedly purchased has appeared on social media.
Mr. Boahene was arrested following a complex investigation by EOCO following an attempt to flee the country,
On February 25th, 2025, EOCO received intelligence that Adu-Boahene had left Ghana for the UK aboard British Airways flight BA078. However, further information suggested that he had continued his travel to Dubai, where he had booked a return flight to Ghana on Emirates Flight EK187 for March 21st, 2025. On March 20th, it was revealed that Adu-Boahene had canceled his flight and rescheduled his return for April 8th.
On March 21st, 2025, Adu-Boahene was intercepted by the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) at the Kotoka International Airport as he attempted to use the Commercially Important Persons (CIP) terminal.
Documents show that Mr Boahen purchased a number of properties valued at millions of dollars, primarily in Accra but also outside the Nation, especially in the United Kingdom.
During a public update press conference on Monday, March 24, 2025, Dominic Ayine, Ghana’s Attorney General and Minister for Justice, disclosed that Boahene transferred more than $7 million intended for a cyber security contract into his personal accounts.
Dr. Ayine confirmed that EOCO is continuing its investigation into Adu-Boahene’s financial dealings and has identified several individuals who may have received transfers from his private accounts.
