MEASURES TO CURB STUDENTS INDISCIPLINE AND CRIMES IN SCHOOLS
It has come to the attention of Management of the Ghana Education Service a disturbing incident that has recently occurred in one of our Senior High Schools, where a student shot a colleague. This tragic event has raised concerns about the safety and security of our students in schools.
In light of this incident, all school heads are urged to take immediate precautionary measures to ensure that students do not bring any dangerous items into the school premises. To achieve this, we direct that school heads conduct thorough searches on all students, their bags, and other personal belongings in their dormitories and classrooms.
This measure is essential to prevent any potential harm to students and staff. We direct school heads to:
1. Conduct regular searches on students and their belongings.
2. Increase security measures in schools.
3. Educate students on the dangers of carrying dangerous items to school.
4. Encourage students to report any suspicious behavior or items to the school authorities.
By taking these measures, we can ensure that our schools remain safe and secure environments for all students.
By this letter, Regional Directors of Education are requested to communicate this information to all heads of all Senior High/Senior High Technical Schools of this directive and take necessary steps to implement these measures.
Thank you.
