An Accra Circuit presided over by Justice Rev Joseph Owusu Agyeman has dismissed a case brought to it concerning the collation and declaration of the just ended Nsawam Adoagyiri Constituency.

Another contested result that ended in a court case is the Ablekuma North Constituency. In this fierce contest, the NDC parliamentary candidate Ewurabena Aubynn was declared winner and MP elect.

The EC however has backtracked on its declaration resulting in litigation

The court has ordered the EC to re-collate the results. Some of the reasons the EC gave was that the results for Ablekuma North was declared without 62 polling stations. The EC boss also elaborated that out of 281 polling stations, only 219 were used to declare the MP elect winner.

In the contention case, the NDC party was seeking to uphold the results of Dome Kwabenya, Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, Tema Central and Obuasi East.

They sought to argue that the results having been already collated and declared by an official of the EC cannot be annulled.

The EC also argued that the collation in the contested constituencies were illegal since they were done under duress.

In addition to the court ordering the EC to re-collate, it also asked the IGP to ensure full protection and security for the EC officials.
