In Kumasi’s Adum core business district, a fire outbreak has destroyed two-story structures that house multiple stores.
Around 6 a.m., the fire at the well-known Blue Light venue near Hello FM began, and while firefighters worked to stop it, it quickly spread.
As the fire tore through their stores, terrified merchants were forced to break in and discard their goods.
The majority of the stores sell apparel, jewelry, and cell phones and accessories.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded quickly to the fire, which seriously damaged multiple stores. They worked into the evening to contain and put out the fire.
At one point throughout the evening, the firefighters ran out of water and had to come back to the station to get more before they could continue putting out the remaining fires. ​
The cause of the fire is currently unknown but remains under investigation, with authorities working diligently to determine its origin.​
