After the NPP party lost power in the 2024 General elections, most of its members have gone at each other and the party seems to be in a state of pandemonium.

One major problem the party is grappling with has to do with the issue of former Dome Kwabenya MP Adwoa Safo.

She in particular has been on what can be termed a media tour while venting to her supporters and Ghanaians.

The conversation is mainly centered on her relationship with the party leadership during the final parts of its rulership.

One of the issues has to do with the accusation from her party members whether or not she voted for the party’s desired speaker of parliament (Prof Mike Ocquaye) or Right Hon Alban Bagbin from the opposition.

Hon Safo was fingered for allegedly snubbing Prof Ocquaye while choosing Hon Bagbin. This the Hon has vehemently denied on many occasions.

The other major issue has to do with her inability to support the passing of the controversial E-Levy. It has been alleged for many months that the MP was impersonated during the voting process. She has never accepted or denied it. She has however affirmed that she did not support it and neither did she vote for the implementation of that legislation. This has left many to believe the narrative of “impersonation”  as alleged by some members of the public.

These and other reasons have left Hon Agyapong, another vocal legislator  with no choice than to accuse her colleague of deliberating running the party down. Some members of the Public have jokingly speculated the dissolution of the party by end of December 2025.

Hon Ken never accepted the fact that Adwoa Safo said she lost a pregnancy and at the same time was faced with a serious health challenge with one of her children in the United States. Adwoa even said she almost lost her children to the American Social welfare because of her absence in the life of her children.

Hon Ken also said the party members and leadership tried every means possible to bring Hon. Safo into the country to support certain government business but the MP simply would not badge. For months, the former MP stayed away from parliament and became a major concern for most Ghanaians.

Kennedy said “there are fine gentlemen and women in the party who have made several attempts to talk to Adwoa”

Hon Agyapong was obviously bewildered why the former MP would be so burnt on not willing to engage with her own party. This the MP said made her seat vacant, contributing to the party loosing that seat. He further accused Adwoa of demanding the removal and announcement of majority leader Hon Afenyo Markin.
