Sean Combs, hip hop artiste, music producer and entrepreneur was arrested in a hotel in New York on Monday night of 16 September 2024.
A source from ABC News said the music mogul was arrested at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. Other sources say he was arrested during a raid in one of his properties in New York.
He is said to be arraigned before the court on Tuesday.
Several inditements and sexual harassment cases have been made against the rapper. ABC News reports say a federal grand jury in Manhattan returned an indictment against Combs, which set in motion his arrest.
Sean Comb’s lawyer, Marc Agnifilo addressed the media in a statement in which he claimed the arrest of his client was an unjust prosecution.
The lawyer lamented: “We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s office. Sean “Diddy” Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man and a proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community,”. Lawyer for Sean Combs continued in his statement in a public defence of his client: “He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal. To his credit, Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgement until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.
Combs’ troubles began when his longtime girlfriend, Cassie Ventura accused him of various sexual misconducts. More accusations have followed since Cassie complained of various sexual crimes.
Law enforcement sources informed the media that federal agents with Homeland Security early in March had searched and seized various electronic devices from the musician as part of investigations including some properties of the rapper. Some raids and searches were also carried out on the rapper’s properties in Los Angeles and Miami.
Back in May, two more lawsuits were filed against Combs. One of the victims, Model Crystal Mckinney accused the rapper of gross sexual misconduct while the act was recorded back in 2003.
Combs has denied all allegations and claimed all those accusers are attempting to assassinate his character and destroy the legacy he built through hard work.
