The official X account of President John Dramani Mahama (@JDMahama) has been compromised, according to confirmation from Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State for Government Communications.
In an interview with GHOne TV, Kwakye Ofosu disclosed that dishonest people had compromised the account, but he gave the public the assurance that measures were being taken to restore it.
The hack was discovered on Sunday when a cryptocurrency scam associated with Solanafrica—a phony initiative purporting to be “led by Ghana’s President John Mahama to make payments across Africa free using the Solana blockchain”—was promoted using the President’s X account. Since then, the token has been rug-pulled, resulting in some losses for investors.
Mr. Kwakye stated that measures are been take to retrieve the account. At the moment, the supposed hackers keep posting information about different crypto products suggesting that the President’s account is still in the hands of unscrupulous individuals.
