Head coach of the senior national team, Ghana Black Stars, Otto Addo has said he does not intend to resign from his position.
The black stars crushed out of the AFCON25 qualifiers at the Accra sports stadium on Monday, 18th November 2024. Coach Otto Addo’s side was beaten by Niger by 2 goals to 1. The black stars finished bottom of the group, making football lovers furious with both the FA and the coach.
It appeared the match didn’t matter to most Ghanaians, as the team seemed to have lost their spot even before the match was played. The possibility of qualifying for the AFCON was almost impossible.
The black stars missed the AFCON for the first time in 20 years. They also failed to win a match in any of their qualifiers. This has been the worst form of any black star side in more than 20 years.
When journalists criticized his competence as a coach, the former black stars player said: “I am not the person who can resign. If I had done this, I would never have become a player or even a coach”.
Despite the resilience the coach has shown, Ghanaians are affirmative in their resolve to compel him to resign
