Kwame Asare-Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, is the member of parliament for Gomoa Central. He has stated categorically that he funded his own parliamentary campaign without any financial assistance from political “big men.”

This comes after a few days of media bunter between himself and Ghana’s Attorney General Dr. Ayine. A plus had accused the lawyer of corruption which the latter debunked vehemently. The accusation centered around financial assistance for pollical campaigns.
The outspoken politician highlighted his financial independence and close ties to grassroots supporters during an interview on Channel One TV’s Upside Down Show on Sunday, May 4. He claimed that his campaign was entirely self-funded.

“I managed my own campaign. No big man here can go elsewhere and claim that he came for one cedi during A Plus’s campaign. A-Plus Kwame is grounded. “I have money,” he said with assurance.

He also described how political players, posing as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP), tried to sway the outcome on election day, but he refused to back down.
