The current speaker of the 8th parliament of the Republic of Ghana Alban Bagbin has been nominated again to be considered for the position of speaker.
The decision was contained in a press statement released on Sunday 5th December, 2025.
The statement revealed that the president elect in consultation with the Party’s National executives and their parliamentary leadership had mandated the caucus to nominate Alban Bagbin for the next speaker of parliament
Ghana’s 9th parliament is set be have its first sitting on 7th January, 2025 at 12:05 am.
The focus of the first sitting of parliament will be to elect the speaker and deputy speaker of the 9th parliament.
Later in the day, parliament would re convene on the Independence square for the swearing in of the President and Vice President of Ghana.
