Carlos Queiroz Black Stars Coach – The Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council appoints Carlos Queiroz. The Portuguese coach will lead the Black Stars. Key stakeholders supported this decision.

Queiroz brings massive World Cup experience. He coached Real Madrid and Manchester United. He also led Portugal and Iran. Queiroz guided South Africa to the 2002 World Cup. He took Portugal to the 2010 knockout stage. He managed Iran in 2014 and 2018.
In his first official message, Queiroz strikes a humble tone. He promises to restore pride and unity in Ghana football.
“It is with a deep sense of gratitude to GFA, responsibility, and humility that I embrace this new chapter,” he says.
Queiroz acknowledges the huge task ahead. Ghana prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He calls this appointment a continuation of his lifelong journey.
“Football has given me a lifetime of challenges, lessons, and unforgettable journeys,” he states.
“Today, I accept this mission with the same passion and commitment.”
Queiroz starts work immediately. The 2026 World Cup kicks off on June 11, 2026 and Ghana faces Panama first on June 17 in Toronto. England and Croatia complete Ghana’s group matches.
