Uganda has reported an outbreak of Ebola in its Capital, Kampala.
The Ministry of Health’s confirmation came after a patient reportedly died on Wednesday.
The ministry of Health reported that the deceased is a male nurse at the Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala. The nurse died after he developed fever-like symptoms of which he tried various different kinds of medication including herbal remedies.
The patient died at the National Referral Hospital after a few days of illness following several failures of other medical remedies.
Post-mortem samples confirmed the presence of Sudan Ebola Virus Disease.
The Ministry in a statement said it had began contact tracing but also acknowledged the difficulty in accomplishing the task in the country’s overcrowded capital city of 4million people.
