2024 Ghana Elections Update
Early results show that Mahama is winning in areas that are frequently controlled by the NPP.
Areas like Assin Central, and Klottey Korle have been won by the NDC. The 2024 elections are expected to be officially won by Ghana’s former president, John Dramani Mahama.

He served as President from 2012 to 2017, which was his first time in government. High voter turnouts and a predicted close race between Mahama and the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) nominee, Dr Mahamudu Bawumiah was not quite close.
In addition to gaining several significant parliamentary seats, the NDC also took home noteworthy districts including Tano South and Ablekuma West.

Despite significant NPP defeats for Ursula Owusu and KT Hammond, some candidates, including Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, held onto their advantage.
This election signifies a dramatic change in Ghana’s political environment as the NDC regains its lead. The electoral process was not without its challenges. Violent incidents and claims of electoral malpractice, such as the use of purportedly falsified ballots and issues with voter registration, have been reported in a number of places.
The Electoral Commission has been highly commended for the way it handled the elections despite these challenges.

Mahama’s campaign promises of economic recovery and good governance are likely to be the center of attention after official results are finalized, while Ghanaians wait for the transfer of power.
