The Ministry of the Interior has designated Wednesday, May 27, 2026, as a statutory public holiday to mark Eid-Ul-Adha.
In a statement released by the Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, the day is set aside to observe the annual Islamic festival.
Commonly referred to as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” Eid-Ul-Adha is one of the two holiest celebrations in the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims around the world.
The festival honors Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham’s) readiness to sacrifice his son in submission to God’s command. It also marks the conclusion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
