The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) conducted cordon and search operations in Binduri, near Bawku, following reports of sporadic gunfire near the Binduri Central Market on April 21, 2025.
A joint team from the 11 Mechanized Battalion, Joint Task Force, and Police swiftly moved in, cordoned off the area, and conducted a thorough search.
One suspected gunman was arrested and handed over to the police.
Seized items include Firearms such as AK-47 rifle, G3 rifle, empty M16 magazine. Ammunition consisting 370 rounds of M16/AK-47 ammo, 128 rounds of G3 ammo were also confiscated. Other weapons and gear such as Machete, four fragmentation jackets, military boots, and a helmet were also seized.
Unknown gunmen tried to get into Binduri later that day, but military patrols stopped them. There was also a brief gunfight before the assailants bolted.
The situation remains under control, but troops remain on high alert for further threats.
