The Trump administration is considering issuing sweeping travel restrictions for the citizens of dozens of countries as part of a new ban.
The list has a total of about 41 countries divided into three separate groups. The first group of 10 countries, including Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Cuba and North Korea among others, would be set for a full visa suspension
Full Visa Suspension
Citizens of the following Nations would face a complete ban on U.S. visa issuance if the policy is implemented:
- Libya
- Somalia
- Sudan
- Afghanistan
- Iran
- Syria
- Cuba
- North Korea
Partial Visa Suspension
The second category includes countries whose nationals would face restrictions on tourist, student, and certain immigrant visas:
- Eritrea
- South Sudan
- Eritrea,
- Haiti,
- Laos,
- Myanmar
- South Sudan
Countries at Risk of Partial Suspension
The third category consists of nations that could face partial visa suspensions if they fail to address security screening deficiencies within 60 days. In this group, a total of 26 countries:
- Angola
- Benin
- Burkina Faso
- Cape Verde
- Cameroon
- Chad
- Democratic Republic of the Congo
- Equatorial Guinea
- Gambia
- Liberia
- Malawi
- Mauritania
- Republic of the Congo
- Sierra Leone
- SĂŁo TomĂ© and PrĂncipe
- Belarus,
- Pakistan
- Turkmenistan
The list has not yet been finalized by the Trump administration, and U.S. officials warn that it could yet be changed. The proposed limitations come after an executive order requiring more stringent security checks for foreign people wishing to enter the United States was enacted on January 20, 2025.
