The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals in connection with violent incidents that marred the Ablekuma North parliamentary re-run election held on July 11, 2025.
The suspects, identified as Musah Muntari, a 46-year-old STC Station Manager, and Ali Saeed, alias “Mboma,” a 43-year-old businessman, are currently assisting with investigations. The police emphasized their commitment to bringing all perpetrators of election-related violence and intimidation to justice, urging the public to cooperate by sharing credible information through emergency numbers 18555 or 191.
In a press release dated July 23, 2025, Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, reiterated the police’s dedication to maintaining law and order during electoral processes. The arrests follow widespread reports of assaults and disruptions during the re-run election, which had raised concerns about political violence in the region.
The police assured the public of thorough investigations and called for calm as they work to ensure accountability for the incidents. This development highlights ongoing efforts to safeguard Ghana’s democratic processes against acts of violence and misconduct.
