With an overwhelming victory in Ghana’s general elections, Ex President Mahama is Ghana’s president elect.

The elections didn’t only ensure the ex president’s overwhelming victory in the presidential race, it also did for the parliamentary.

With an estimated two thirds of seats in Ghana’s parliament, the president elect is set to enjoy an absolute power over the nation.

Just two of the privileges the president is set to enjoy are:

Support for Constitutional Amendments:
Constitutional amendments in Ghana require a supermajority in Parliament. While a simple majority doesn’t guarantee this threshold, it provides a strategic starting point for building consensus

Control Over Parliamentary Committees:
A parliamentary majority allows the president’s party to dominate key committees, including the Finance Committee and Appointments Committee, which oversee executive actions and appointments.
