The National Service Authority has released a statement refuting claims of massive corruption.
The Fourth Estates, an investigative organization released snippets of reports of corruption. The pieces of reports fingered the management of the NSS for massive corruption in the form of ghost names in its registrar.
A parliamentary committee’s report also revealed that the authority has allegedly inserted about 200,000 ghost names.
In the 2017/2018 year, the report revealed that authorities announced 91,871 eligible persons whereas only 88,939 were deployed. This leaves a significant amount of 2,932 persons.
The 2018/2019 cycle year also showed a reported 85,708 eligible persons, yet deployed 135,603 personnel.
The year 2019/2020 also saw a reported 77,962 eligible personnel but 111,4036 deployment leaving an excess of 36,074 personnel.
The damaging reports continues till the 2023/2024 year cycle.
The authority however has refuted all the claims calling it “baseless and unfounded”
The authority in further refuting the claims said its systems had seen an upgrade which ensured such incidences are curtailed.
The authority said other measures that have been put in place to curb corruption are facial verification, Ghana Card integration and institution-based eligibility checks. The measures are said to have saved the country over 300 million cedis between the year 2021 and 2024.
Finally, in reaffirming its dedication to the Ghanaian people, the director-general of the National Service Authority Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi concluded by saying “We remain resolute in service Ghana with integrity, transparency and accountability”.
