The highly anticipated Kumasi Debate Open is set to take place from May 23rd to May 29th at the prestigious Akenten Appiah Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED). Bringing together over 200 participants from various African universities, the fourth edition of this annual Pan-African event promises to foster intellectual growth and shape the future leaders of Africa.
The Debate tournament organized by the AAMUSTED Debate Society and Faceoffs Incorporated, aims to provide a platform for robust intellectual discourse and empower the next generation of African intellectuals. This year’s event is particularly significant as it has witnessed a surge in participation from universities across Africa, including Liberia, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, and Nigeria.
The Kumasi Debate Open has over the years been recognized by the management of AAMUSTED as one of the key events geared towards student capacity building in the University. Speaking at last year’s closing ceremony; The Ag. Head of the Academic Affairs and Patron of the AAMUSTED Debate Society, Dr Charles Baba Campion, commended the participants for their keenness at the competition. He stressed that attaining a university degree alone could not guarantee an individual’s future success, but the ability to convince people to accept their ideas and vision was essential.
