Former Ghanaian Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has been officially listed as a wanted person on Interpol’s Red Notice database, following allegations of using public office for personal profit.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has re-declared Ofori-Atta a fugitive from justice after he failed to appear for an investigative interview scheduled for June 2, 2025. The Red Notice, published on June 6, 2025, describes him as a 65-year-old Ghanaian male, standing 1.7 meters tall, with black hair and eyes, fluent in English and Twi. This development intensifies the legal pressure on the former minister, who allegedly has repeatedly evaded accountability.
This marks the second time Ofori-Atta has been declared a wanted person by the OSP. In February 2025, he was first labeled a “fugitive from justice” after ignoring summons related to multiple high-profile corruption cases. His refusal to cooperate with investigators has raised serious concerns about accountability and transparency in Ghana’s governance. The Interpol Red Notice now places him on an international watchlist, complicating any attempts to evade arrest by crossing borders.
The case has drawn significant public attention, with critics accusing Ofori-Atta of undermining the rule of law. The OSP has vowed to pursue all legal avenues to ensure his prosecution, emphasizing that no individual is above accountability. As the international manhunt intensifies, the former minister’s whereabouts remain unknown, leaving many Ghanaians questioning whether justice will finally be served in one of the country’s most high-profile corruption scandals.
