According to Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, member of parliament for Assin Central, he is campaigning for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) just because Hon. Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh was chosen as Dr Mahamadu Bawumia’s running mate for the upcoming general elections.
The National Executive Council (NEC) of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has unanimously approved Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for the 2024 general elections.
The party highlighted that Dr Opoku Prempeh meets all the criteria for the running mate position, which led to his unanimous approval.
Hon. Kennedy Agyapong after the NPP presidential primaries in November, 2023 which saw him place second after Dr Mahamudu Bawumia iterated that with his observations before, during and after the election, he will only come all out to support and campaign for the NPP should the party nominate and approve the Manhyia South member of parliament, hon. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
He added, “I decided to stay mute and never take part in any activities going into the 2024 general elections but had to reconsider my actions after the party settled on Napo as its running mate”.
