Hon Sam George, MP for Ningo Prampram and Minister for Communication has been reminded by netizens to alert his Government to implement the measures he vehemently trumpeted whiles in opposition.

The Minister and Politician full of exuberance accused the past NPP Government of not doing enough to curb illegal mining in Ghana.

During a discussion on Joy News, Sam George called for the arrest and imprisonment of all those who engage in illegal mining that pollutes Ghana’s water bodies.

The Minister even called for the killing by firing squad those who brazenly engaged in illegal mining (Galamsey)

Due to his affirmative nature in suggesting solutions for the illegal mining canker in the video, he has also been asked to implement same in his Government.

It has been established that Illegal miners use mining techniques that disregard environmental preservation, resulting in the degradation of water resources throughout Ghana. These water bodies have become contaminated with heavy metals, including cyanide (CN) and mercury (Hg), making them unsuitable for irrigation.

Studies in the Western Region of Ghana have shown high concentrations of hazardous heavy metallic elements in surface water, including mercury and lead.

Meanwhile the Hon has been accused of being over critical of the past Government in the fight against the canker. He is also being accused of turning a blind eye to the same problem who energetically voiced about few months ago.

A section of the public have claimed the whole Government have left the Galamsey fight for just the sector minister in charge of Lands and Natural resources.

It is in this light that the Minister is being called upon to walk his own talk when he was not in Government.
