Ghana Black Stars Secure Win
The Ghana Black Stars have secured a narrow win against Mali in Accra.
This win puts Ghana closer to the 2026 World Cup after a 1-0 home victory against Mali on top of its group for the 2026 world cup qualifiers

Alexander Djiku scored the winning goal for the Black Stars early in the second half. He capitalized after Mali’s goalkeeper mishandled a corner kick from Jordan Ayew.
Although Mali controlled the game’s final 30 minutes, they could not break through Ghana’s strong defense. As a result of this resilience, Ghana earned a crucial win that gives them 19 points and first place in their group. Therefore, the team needs just one more win from its last two games to secure its spot in the World Cup.
Mali’s World Cup Dream Crashes
Consequently, Mali’s dream of a first-ever World Cup finals appearance is over, as they can no longer win their qualifying group. As a result, the top seeds now sit in a disappointing fourth place, four points behind second-placed Madagascar. This situation follows Madagascar’s strong 3-1 comeback win over Chad, with goals from Caddy, Raveloson, and Abdallah.
With Comoros also winning, the race for the playoff spot is heating up. The group’s runner-up will advance to a playoff for a chance to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in North America.
Algeria’s Road to Qualification
Algeria is now just one win away from qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. The team secured a crucial point in a 0-0 draw against Guinea in Casablanca. The match saw close calls, with Mohamed Amoura missing a key chance for Algeria and Youcef Atal making a vital goal-line clearance to preserve the draw.

Algeria remains at the top of their group with 19 points. However, their closest rivals, Uganda and Mozambique, both won their matches to stay four points behind. Despite this pressure, Algeria needs just one victory in their remaining games to secure their spot in the World Cup.
In other action, Egypt can also clinch their qualification on Tuesday with a win against Burkina Faso.
