GETFund Uncovers Multi-Million Pound Scholarship Scandal

The U.K High Commissioner, Sabah Zita Benson has publicly revealed a major financial discrepancy at the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

This disclosure exposes an alleged GETFund scholarship debt totaling a staggering 32 million pounds.

Revealing the Scale of the Debt

During a recent briefing, the High Commissioner confirmed that the agency’s former Administrator, Kingsley Agyemang, accrued this enormous liability.

Specifically, the GETFund scholarship debt covers unpaid tuition fees for grant students in the United Kingdom.

Consequently, obligations stretch from the year 2021 all the way through to 2025, creating a significant future burden for the institution.

Allegations of Mismanagement and Fraud

The official leveled allegations of serious and suspicious activities in the last four years.

She stated that, in some instances, Agyemang reportedly sold scholarship slots to applicants for as much as 10,000 pounds each.

Moreover, she raised critical questions about the former head’s conduct.

“He kept issuing approval letters,” she noted, “presumably when there was no budget.”

Therefore, a central mystery remains: if allocated funds existed, what exactly happened to the money?

Seeking Accountability and Solutions

This revelation of a GETFund scholarship debt now triggers demands for a full forensic audit and accountability.

The allegations suggest a severe breach of trust that potentially deprived deserving students of vital educational support.

As a result, the Fund faces immediate pressure to investigate thoroughly, recover any misappropriated funds, and implement stronger financial controls to restore public confidence and secure the future of Ghana’s scholarship programs.
