The Ghana Education Service and The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) are opposing each other on the re-opening of Secondary Schools.

The Education Service has set January 3rd, 2025 as the re-opening date for secondary schools. However, CHASS has raised concerns about the date. CHASS’s concern is as a result of unresolved financial obligation from Government.

A press release by the GES clearly stated its unchanged position of re-opening Secondary Schools on January 3rd 2025 while Primary and Junior High Schools re-open on January 8th, 2025.

In the press release, GES stated its desire to engage the Ministry of Education in addressing concerns of its major stakeholder, CHASS.

CHASS has pointed out on several occasions that government has failed to fulfill its financial obligation which will enable Schools run effectively.

For this reason, the Heads of Secondary Schools have called for the postponement of re-opening day for Secondary Schools.

And for this, the Ghana Education Service disagrees.
