In a bid to reduce the enormous pressure on the Canadian Visa Application Centre (C VAC-VFS) in Accra, Ghana, the organization has restructured its procedures concerning applicants’ passport transmission.
Starting March 18th 2024, applicants wishing to transmit their passports for further visa processing would have to use any courier service of their choice. As usual, this will only happen after they have received an official passport request from the Canadian consulate .
Since the lifting of travel restrictions in 2022, many visa application centers have had more than the usual applicants for visas.
The Canadian application centre in particular has seen more than double the number of applicants hoping to travel to the North American country since 2022.
This has brought enormous pressure on the centre and its workforce leading many to wonder what steps the company is taking to mitigate the overwhelming condition.
“Important Notice – From March 18, 2024 you may not submit your passport in person at the VAC for package transmission. Once you receive notification from the Government of Canada requesting your passport, please send your documents via any courier company of your choosing to the VAC”.
It is in view of this that the centre has made the decision to outsource its usual passport transmission process to courier companies.
This arrangement is to begin on Monday 16th March 2024 as reported on the original website of VFS.
