The Advocacy for Citizens Ghana has called for the arrest of Captain Smart, a radio presenter who works with Onua FM in Accra.
In a press release, the Group called on the IGP to arrest the radio presenter for his alleged role in instigating the unlawful event at Obuasi AngloGold.
The Group said “Our call stems from Captain Smart’s irresponsible statements made during his morning show, as well as a video widely circulated on social media platforms such as Facebook and TikTok. In the video, Captain Smart is seen inciting individuals, including alleged NDC supporters, to unlawfully enter the AngloGold mining concession with the assertion that “this country is for everybody.”
Advocacy for Citizens Ghana also believe that the reckless comments by Captain Smart directly fueled the violent clash leading to the tragic loss of lives.
The Group called on the President to publicly condemn the constant hooliganism, take responsibility and ensure order is restored.
Media General, the media group that employs Captain Smart was also called on to dismiss the presenter for his unprofessionalism and a breach of the code of ethics of Journalism.
