Hon. Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South and Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee, has issued a strong denial following social media reports alleging he threatened violence ahead of the Akwatia by-election.
In an official statement dated July 29, 2025, the lawmaker described the claims as “false and malicious,” emphasizing that he has never endorsed or threatened electoral violence. He reaffirmed his longstanding commitment to peaceful elections, stating, “Under no circumstance will I be involved in acts of violence, much less threatening the same.”
The MP highlighted his consistent record of condemning electoral violence and urging authorities to prosecute offenders. “It is a matter of public record that I have repeatedly called for deterrent actions against perpetrators to safeguard our democracy,” he noted. His statement also appealed to the public to disregard the misleading reports, warning that such fabrications not only damage reputations but also jeopardize national stability.
Expressing concern over the rise of misinformation, Hon. Fordjour called on those behind the false publications to cease their actions immediately. He stressed the importance of maintaining peace during elections and reiterated his dedication to upholding the rule of law.
As tensions rise ahead of the by-election, his denial seeks to reassure constituents and the broader public of his commitment to non-violence and democratic principles.
