The Ghana Health Service has revealed that there has been two more additional cases of Mpox, thus sending the total number of invested persons to four.
Earlier in the week, the Health Service reported two cases of the disease all in Accra. On Thursday 15th May 2025, however, the Ministry has reported 2 additional cases. This new development updates the total figure to a total of 4 as of 18th May, 2025 The two new case were reported in Accra and Western Region
The Health Authority has announced the activation of its public health measures which include contact tracing which will prevent the spread of the virus.
In addition to these measure, the public is urged to abide by hygienic practices to prevent further spread.
These are some of the measures:

Frequent Handwashing – Use soap and water or an alcohol-based sanitizer, especially after touching skin lesions, contaminated surfaces, or caring for someone infected.

Avoid Touching Face – Refrain from touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Cover Coughs & Sneezes

Avoid Skin-to-Skin Contact – Mpox spreads through direct contact with rashes, scabs, or bodily fluids.

No Sharing Personal Items – Avoid sharing towels, clothing, bedding, or utensils with someone who has mpox.
