Scanty, a youtuber associated with Kwadwo Sheldon Studios has recounted a sorrowful story of how he struggled through life during his secondary school years.

Coming from a family of four, and being the second eldest child, scanty said life was extremely difficult at home. Besides, he bore a lot of responsibilities.

“There was no food and money at home” he said. Scanty acknowledged how School was a haven for him because he solely had to rely heavily on food provided by the school.

Generally, most second cycle school students in Ghana complain about the quality of food provided by the schools.

Recently, a video of Yvonne Nelson making a similar complain about the food served during her time in secondary school surfaced on social media. Hence it is not uncommon to see students with lots of money and provisions to depend on whiles in school.

Unfortunately for scanty though, he solely depended on the much “despised” food provided by the school because he had no money nor provisions.

One highlight of his narration was when he saw his elderly sister’s obituary poster at a junction when returning home.

On that occasion, he had been sacked from school due to arrears in tuition fees. According to him, normally, he would take refuge in the dormitories when during such times so he could feed on the school’s meals.

This time however, he had exhausted all those channels and of hiding places. Hence he had no choice but to return home. It was only on his way home that he saw his elderly sister’s obituary on a wall at a junction.

Staying home was not even an option because there was no food at home. He narrated further that after a few moments at home, he returned to school with empty hands.
