At around 1am on Thursday morning, fire gutted the Kantamanto market in Accra destroying many shops.
The fire left many shop owners devastated and displaced.
Traders and some eyewitnesses say the fire began suddenly at dawn but quickly spread to all other parts of the markets.
Attempts by traders to salvage some items were futile as the fire quickly spread to all parts of the market with every passing minute.
Not even 13 fire tenders from the Ghana National Fire Service could bring the fire under control
It was not until later in the day that the real damage caused by the fire was revealed.
The market has totally burnt to ruins. Traders and shop owners only had to watch with heartache as their very livelihoods got obliterated right before their eyes.
