Hon Fran Annoh-Dompreh has been declared winner and MP elect for the Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency.
This constituency was part of those with contention. Its’ collation was marked by violence and many disruptions.
The disruptions and violence which was caused by supporters of both candidates truncated the collation process.
According to The EC chairperson, only 143 polling stations were collated as of the time the disruptions began.
She also stated that upon advice from the Police service, the whole process was put on hold, hence no winner could be declared.
The current MP for the constituency, Frank Annoh-Dompreh however filed a case in court compelling the EC to collate the results and declare the winner.
Based on the court order, the EC returning officer after re-collation announce the results.
After the re-collation exercise, Hon Annoh-Dompreh secured 29,660 votes while his opponent Philibert Amenorpe Fummey secured 29,433.
The NPP candidate won the set with a slim margin of 277 votes.
