Nana Kwame Bediako Emerges As The Third Force

The New Force movement’s Nana Kwame Bediako, often known as Cheddar, defeated Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen by a margin of 53,276 votes in the 2024 presidential election, demonstrating that he is, in fact, the new force in Ghanaian politics.

In the presidential election, he received 84,478 votes, placing him third, while Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a well-known political titan, received 31,202 votes, placing him in fourth place.

John Dramani Mahama was proclaimed the victor of Ghana’s 2024 presidential election by the Electoral Commission on Monday evening.

In the presidential election with 12 candidates, Mr. Mahama defeated his closest rival, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who is currently the vice president, with 6,328,397 votes, or 56.55 percent of the valid votes cast, according to results announced from 267 constituencies (nine constituencies excluded).

Of the 4,657,304 votes polled, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia received 4,61% of the legitimate votes. With nine constituencies where results are still pending, this declaration is based on results from 267 constituencies. In the 2024 presidential election, 11,191,422 votes were cast overall, according to the declaration, omitting the nine uncontested constituencies.

There were 239,109 ballots that were rejected. Votes cast in total: 11,430,531 18,774,159 people are registered to vote. 60.9 percent of voters cast ballots in 267 constituencies. The following nine constituencies still have unresolved results: Dome Kwabenya, Techiman South, Akwatia, Suhum, Nsawam Adoagyiri, Ablekuma North, Ahafo Ano North, Damango, and Awutu Senya East. Mrs. Jean Mensa, the chairperson of the Electoral Commission, announced the findings and stated that there are 947,116 registered voters in all nine constituencies.

Accordingly, if every legitimate voter in the nine aforementioned seats had supported the second-place finisher, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, he would have received 5,604,420 votes, or 46.17 percent of all legitimate ballots. This amounts to 46.17 percent of the 12,138,538 valid votes that were cast.

According to the chairperson of the EC, John Dramani Mahama is unquestionably the victor of the 2024 presidential election even if the inclusion of the outstanding constituencies had given the front-runner 52.13 percent, which is still higher than the 50 percent threshold needed to be declared the winner.

With the aforementioned in mind, the Returning Officer for the 2024 presidential election, Mrs. Jean Mensa, proclaimed John Dramani Mahama the victor and Ghana’s president-elect. “Congratulations sir, it is finished,” she answered.

With all the fierce competition, Nana Kwame Bediako emerged third place. Will he be eager to cement his place as the third force in the interim, striving to be an alternative to the two major parties?
