CLOGSAG Gives Nationwide Strike Notice

CLOGSA declares a nationwide strike starting March 9, 2026. Hence, the official notice for Civil and Local Government staff is to stay at home until further notice.

Official Strike Declaration Issued to Members

The leadership of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has officially activated its nationwide strike.

Consequently, the association has directed all its members to stay at home starting Monday, 9th March 2026. This tough decision comes after weeks of unresolved issues with the government, leaving the staff with no choice but to withdraw their services.

Who Must Stay at Home?

Specifically, the directive affects every staff member of the Civil Service and the Local Government Service. The Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, issued the statement from the National Headquarters in Accra today. He emphasized that the industrial action remains in effect until the National Executive Council (NEC) states otherwise.

Timeline of Events Leading to the Strike

To understand the timeline, we must look back to Thursday, 19th February 2026. On that day, the NEC served notice of their intent to strike.

However, because the matters on the ground remain unresolved, the union is now forced to escalate the situation. Therefore, all regional secretaries and branch leaders must ensure compliance with this “stay at home” order.

Furthermore, the notice carries the union’s powerful rallying cry—“Tsoo Boi!”—which resonates through their quest for unity and equal rights.

This phrase signals solidarity among the workers as they push for their demands. Indeed, the association insists that the issues at stake threaten the fairness and operational integrity of their members.

What Happens Next?

In conclusion, all CLOGSAG members should wait for further communication before resuming work. The industrial action halts operations in many government departments effective Monday.

The public is to seek alternative arrangements, as the return date depends entirely on the responsiveness of the government to address the union’s grievances.

Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
