Tensions Rise as US Vows to Continue Iran Strikes

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has said that his country has just begun the war with Iran. He said this on Thursday and stated the American mission is progressing quickly.

However, he warned Iran not to misjudge America’s resolve. “Iran hopes we cannot sustain this,” Hegseth said. He called that a “really bad calculation.”

Furthermore, the Pentagon chief reassured the public. He confirmed the US has ample military resources.

“We have no shortage of munitions,” Hegseth told reporters. Therefore, the US can sustain its campaign.

It will last for as long as necessary. Hegseth also delivered a strong warning.

“We have only just begun to fight,”  he declared. He promised the campaign would be decisive.

“If you think you’ve seen something, just wait,”  he added.

Meanwhile, the scale of the operation is massive. Admiral Brad Cooper leads US Central Command. He outlined the recent military operations. In fact, over the last 72 hours, the US struck nearly 200 targets.

These targets were deep inside Iran. Specifically, they included facilities linked to Iran’s space command. The weekend strikes killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior Iranian officials also.

Consequently, this raises a provoking new question. Who will lead Iran next? Hegseth indicated the US will have influence. “I think the president’s having a heck of a say,” Hegseth remarked. President Donald Trump agrees he must be involved. He specifically dismissed the late leader’s son as a frontrunner.

However, the situation contradicts Trump’s campaign promise as he vowed to stop wars after winning the 2024 election. Now America faces an international conflict while there is no clear end in sight. As a result, Americans are expressing disapproval of the war.

A new NBC News poll revealed this dissatisfaction. Specifically, 54 percent of voters disapprove of Trump’s handling. Furthermore, 52 percent believe the US should not have attacked.

Finally, the operation continues without pause while the Pentagon shows no signs of stopping.

Meanwhile, the world watches the escalating conflict. Ultimately, the future of Iran hangs in the balance as the entire region also faces an uncertain future.
