Water Supply Interruption-The Management of Ghana Water Limited (GWL) is actively informing residents and institutions in North-Eastern Accra of an immediate interruption in water supply.

This urgent notice follows a significant fire outbreak at the crucial Dodowa Booster Station. Consequently, this incident has necessitated an emergency temporary shutdown to enable comprehensive and critical repair works.

Immediate Cause and Swift Response

Firstly, the primary cause of this disruption is an unforeseen fire at the station. This damage, therefore, requires a full shutdown to ensure the safety of the infrastructure and the engineers working on it. Importantly, a dedicated team of engineers is already on-site, working tirelessly and around the clock to assess the damage and restore the system to its full functionality as swiftly as possible.

Furthermore, due to the station’s key role in the distribution network, a wide range of communities will experience low water pressure or a complete lack of flow. Specifically, the affected areas include:

· East Legon, Agbogba, Haatso, Atomic, Frafraha, Ashaley Botwe, Adjiringanor, Ashongman Dome, Adenta, Madina and Oyarifa

Moreover, all surrounding neighborhoods within these districts should also prepare for a period of water scarcity.

In the meantime, Management is proactively implementing alternative arrangements to prioritize the continuous supply of water to essential service providers. Specifically, schools and hospitals will receive targeted support during this challenging period.
