U.S Will Run Venezuela

In a dramatic escalation, U.S. military forces launched targeted strikes on Venezuela and captured President Nicolás Maduro, an operation President Donald Trump detailed in a live press conference Saturday.

Consequently, Venezuela has declared a national emergency, denouncing what it calls “extremely serious military aggression.” According to analysis by BBC Verify, the attacks hit several key government and military locations.

Speaking from the White House, President Trump asserted the U.S. would now oversee the country.

“We are going to run Venezuela until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition,” he stated.

He confirmed that no U.S. servicemen were killed in the operation. However, he issued a stark warning, declaring the U.S. is “ready” to stage a second “and much larger” attack if necessary.

Just prior to his remarks, Trump shared an image on social media that he said showed Maduro on board the USS Iwo Jima. The photo depicts a blindfolded figure wearing ear defenders.

This action follows Maduro’s recent indictment in New York on drugs and weapons charges. U.S. Attorney General William Barr stated the Venezuelan leader would now “face the full wrath of American justice on American soil in American courts.”

Observers note a significant shift in Trump’s foreign policy approach.

Anthony Zurcher, writes, “Trump, a sharp critic of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, now seems to be in the business of nation-building.”

The international community is now bracing for the geopolitical fallout, while the situation within Venezuela remains volatile and unclear.
