Hon Habib Iddrisu, first Deputy Majority Whip in parliament has blamed the opposition NDC members in parliament for delays in approving the mini budget.
In a statement on the floor of parliament, the Hon member stated that parliament was recalled purposely to consider the mini budged. He further noted that, that hurdled could have been crossed a long time ago were it not for the tassel over which side became the majority in the house.
The accusations of the majority Whip in parliament has been refuted by the speaker of the house.
Speaker Alban Bagbin said to the Majority Whip “Because you boycotted sitting yesterday and two days ago in my absence, you made statements as if the delay was caused by the Speaker or the minority. That is untrue,”
Thereafter, the minority members have also expressed frustration and dissatisfaction over stalling of the mini budged and the accusations against it.
Dr. Cassel Ato Forson, the minority leader in particular has vehemently and openly expressed his frustration over the absence of the finance minister in parliament. Notably, the minister’s posture towards presentation of the mini budget.
He gave a stern warning to the The current minister of Finance, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam.
The minority leader cautioned the finance minister of risking a jail term if he further stalled the proceedings of the house concerning presentation of the mini budget.
