Sowutuom – Homowo Celebration – According to the Accra Regional Police, the clashes erupted during the traditional sprinkling of Kpokpoi, when a dispute between followers of two rival chiefs spiralled into gunfire and chaos. The violence later spread to Olebu as some participants attempted to flee.

Police have identified the deceased as Abubakar Ramadan Sarbah (alias Nii Kwashiebu), Theophilus Nii Amu Kwadjan, and Joseph Shaibu Dodoo. Authorities have deposited their bodies at the Police Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy.
The injured include Samuel Adjei, Nathaniel Doku, and Frederick Lartey (alias Nii Obrafour). Medical staff have since discharged Enoch Amevor.
Police have deployed additional officers to restore calm, while investigations and intelligence-led operations continue to track down the perpetrators.
The Accra Regional Police Command has also cautioned traditional leaders and their followers to adhere strictly to security arrangements during public festivals to safeguard lives.
Homowo, one of the Ga people’s most significant celebrations, has been overshadowed this year by bloodshed, renewing concerns over chieftaincy-related violence in the capital.
