Raphael Mensah, the individual wanted by Ghana’s Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for alleged involvement in a corruption-related offence, has returned to the country and surrendered to authorities.
Mensah, who was abroad when a wanted notice was issued for him on 8th July 2025, appeared in court today and was granted bail under strict conditions. The OSP had accused him of aiding and abetting the improper use of a public office for personal gain, citing violations of sections of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960. His return marks a significant step in the ongoing investigation.
The OSP had described Mensah as a key suspect in a case involving the exploitation of public office for private benefit. Upon his return, he voluntarily presented himself to the OSP and was arraigned before the court.
The presiding judge granted him bail set at GHS 100,000 with two sureties, alongside additional conditions requiring him to surrender his passport and report to the OSP every two weeks. These measures are intended to ensure his availability as investigations proceed.
The case has drawn public attention as part of Ghana’s broader anti-corruption efforts. The OSP had earlier called for public assistance in locating Mensah, providing contact details for tips.
While his surrender advances the case, the OSP has reiterated that all accused persons remain innocent until proven guilty in court. The proceedings will continue as authorities work to establish the facts surrounding the allegations.
