The GTVET Division of the Public Services Workers Union of Trade Union Congress Ghana has addressed comments by the Executive Secretary of CLOSAG, calling for the scrapping of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Services.
The Union believes that the proposition is not only misinformed but demonstrates a lack of understanding of TVET’s pivotal role in Ghana’s development
The Union again stated the main objectives of the TVET program as to:
- Equip youth with employable skills through competency-Based Training (CBT)
- Standardize education nationwide through a harmonized curriculum
- Support industrial growth by providing the skills workforce needed to drive industrialization and self-reliance.
- Promote inclusivity and equity by offering opportunities for marginalized groups.
GTVET concluded by re emphasizing the critical role TVET plays in empowering Ghanaian youth. All stakeholders were encouraged to remain committed to the TVET agenda and urge detractors to seek constructive engagement rather than propagate misinformation.
The union also reiterated its commitment of the workers of Ghana TVET Service to building a skilled, inclusive, and sustainable future for all.
The statement was singed by Seth Botchway (Divisional Secretary, GTVET-PSWU)
