Ghana goes to the polls on Dec 7th

Early on, the E.C decided to streamline media houses from its collation centers.

Dr Bossman Asare at a conference at the British council explained reasons for that.

He said there are too many media houses in Ghana. He added that in the Greater Accra region alone, there are hundreds of them. Hence having such huge numbers at a collation center can be chaotic.

The EC announced that only 12 media houses will be at the regional collation centres. Only 8  will have access at the constituency level.

This was not well accepted by the media houses. This led to many agitations and several phone calls to the E.C office.

So, the commission has decided to hold several stakeholder consultation.

The GJA and GIBA are major stakeholders in this matter.

The E.C is therefore holding talks with these institutions to arrive at a workable and acceptable arrangement.

The Electoral commission has released a press statement to address the matter concerning media involvement in collation centres.
